Former NBA, NFL Athletes to Launch Web-based Business Education & Financing Platform That Connects Diverse Suppliers with Hard-to-reach Investors

Playbook Investors Network (PIN) removes barriers preventing MBE, WBE, veteran, LGBTQ and small business owners from accessing investment capital

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, October 2, 2017 – Responding to the challenges that diverse suppliers face accessing capital and networks to scale their businesses, a group of professional former athletes from the NBA and NFL have joined forces with business and financing experts to form a new kind of dream team. It’s called the Playbook Investors Network (PIN), a web-based business capital and education platform that removes barriers to minority-, women-, veteran- and LGBTQ-owned enterprises engaging with institutional, corporate and private investors.

Among those investors are sports figures, entertainers and businessmen and women who are doing well by getting educated on how to invest in businesses as well as own and operate them. PIN’s partners include former NBA players Tracy McGrady and Antonio Davis, NFL professional Damian Williams, three-time Olympian Darvis “Doc” Patton and business executive Jesse McRae. Business advisor, former NBA player and coach Butch Carter, will also be present. They will join PIN’s founder and CEO Rodney Woods on October 11 and 12 in Indianapolis for the official launch of the PIN Online Portal, where businesses and investors can access valuable information and resources.

MEDIA: PIN partners are available for interviews on October 11, the morning of October 12 and again after 1 p.m.

On October 12, a special presentation of PIN Global News’ weekly broadcast featuring business experts and athletes in a lively business roundtable will be live streamed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET at the Mid-States Minority Supplier Development Council’s (MSDC) headquarters, 2126 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis. It will be followed by a networking event hosted by the Mid-States Minority Supplier Development Council for its certified MBE members and investors.

PIN Global News is a weekly business roundtable that is live streamed on the PIN website at, Facebook and Twitter from 10 a.m. to noon CST. The business talk show debuted in June on a local Houston radio station. Archived episodes can be seen on YouTube and the PIN website.

“For athletes, there comes a time when earning large sums of money solely based on their talent slows down or comes to an end,” Woods said. “PIN gives them the contacts, information, training and business development prowess to compete in the marketplace and even build upon the wealth and lifestyle they cultivated in their careers.”

PIN, headquartered in Dallas, has created alliances with companies that serve as subject matter experts and provide additional services to members. PIN affiliates can also assist suppliers in obtaining MBE/WBE certification. Visit for a list of benefits.
